Obituary for Margie Ann Sorenson (Lyon)

Margie Ann Sorenson passed away peacefully in her sleep, Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Penrose Main Hospital. Margie was born October 8, 1936 in Nehawka, Nebraska to Henry and Emma Lyon. Margie was the youngest of three siblings.

Margie met her husband of 63 years in Manitou Springs, Colorado at a roller rink. Margie married Carl David Sorenson (better known as Dave) on August 1st, 1953. Margie enjoyed the many adventures of being an Air Force wife. With constant change and multiple moves around the country, her favorite was when they moved to Vicenza, Italy. While there, she loved the people, the scenery, the food and, of course, the wine and cheese.

After 25½ years of military adventure, Margie and Dave agreed to make Colorado Springs their home with their four children. Margie continued to be a full time housewife while enjoying her many hobbies, including cooking, gardening, embroidery and taking multiple cats over the years. Margie also enjoyed attending Science Fiction conventions with her children and grandchildren to embrace her passion for Star Trek.

Her family, consisting of 4 daughters, 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren will always remember her by her amazing stories, fabulous cooking, wonderful with and sense of humor.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Evergreen Funeral Home, 1830 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs. A Funeral Service will follow at 1 PM.
