William “Bill” Morgan Tilton

Bill passed away on Thursday, November 1 from complications of leukemia. He was born to Oscar W. Tilton and Evelyn Tilton in New Castle, PA. After graduating from New Castle High School, he attended the University of Idaho where he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.

While at the U of Idaho, he met and married Coy Ann. Bill graduated with a BS in Logging Engineering.
He was commissioned as a regular Army officer. He served in Europe, Vietnam as an Infantry Company Commander, Korea, and multiple domestic postings until his retirement in 1985 as a Lt Colonel. While serving in the military he earned an MS in Systems Analysis. Bill moved his family to Colorado Springs to start a civilian career as a systems engineer.

Throughout his life, Bill was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving multiple times as bishop, as a counselor in the stake presidency and as the Stake President for nine years. He and Coy Ann served a mission for the Church in Uruguay.

With his big smile and friendly personality Bill was able to make friends with anyone. He was able to help people all over the world feel the love of the Savior with his ever-positive and loving approach to life. He will be remembered as a dedicated husband and a loving father and grandfather, and will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister Lois. He is survived by his wife, Coy Ann, one daughter, Terri, four sons, David, Douglas, Gregory, and Benjamin, seventeen grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 7th from 6:00 - 8:00PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

A funeral service will be held on November 8th at 10:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 150 Pine Ave, Colorado Springs followed by interment at 1 PM at Pikes Peak National Cemetery.
