Condolence From: Eugenia Linder
Condolence: To Audrey's Dear Family,
Today, as thoughts of my childhood along the Housatonic River in Oxford, CT crossed my mind, I thought of Audrey. So googled her name, only to sadly find she had passed away. She still looked so lovely and I did recognize her. I knew her when I was "Ginny Perry" a young girl, maybe 8-10. She was then married to Mac, and had only two children Jeff and Susie and lived for a time with her mom Mrs Florence Page, and her sister Ann and husband George Salvia and their daughter Rosanne, in the big red historic"Smedley" house on River Road. My family, the Perry's, lived a few houses up the road. She and my mom Eugenia (Jean) shared a friendship, and Audrey would sit in front to our fireplace and polish all the brass buttons on my father Dorrance Perry's firehouse uniforms. She loved to polish the brass buttons. They would pare apples for hours, to make a lot of pies. Sometimes Audrey would take my mom, me and my brother Sergei for a ride with Jeff and Susie. Sometimes we would go swimming. I know my mom missed their friendship so much when Audrey moved away. Though years had gone by, I contacted Audrey around 2005 when my own mother Eugenia Perry had passed away In working in my mom's attic, I came upon Audrey's WWII wool coat with the still shiny brass buttons, patches dusty, but in pretty good shape. I recall probably 45 years earlier, Florence had asked my mom if she wanted it, as they were moving to Easton CT and needed to part with extra stuff. So I found Audrey via sister Ann, and called her. She said she would LOVE to have her Army coat back, as she still occasionally attended get-togethers. She never knew what her mom had done with the coat. I did mail the coat to Colorado, and I hope she received it in good condition. I am so happy she had such a wonderful life and loving family around her.
Sincerely, Eugenia (Ginny) Perry Linder - Durham, CT
