Condolence From: Jim and Blanche Berndt
Condolence: We first knew of Bill and Martha when our son married their daughter, Cathy, and that association is dear to us. It was not often that we could see and talk with Bill, as we live in Wisconsin, but to me he was a genuine follower of Christ and wanted only to have others to know and have that love in their hearts. I can know of the loss here, for the family, but all rejoice with knowing Bill and Christ have joined hands.

Condolence: My deepest condolences to Martha and the entire Wallace family. As I had said recently Bill and I were roommates while going thru Navigation Training at Ellington AFB in 1954. I was in class 55-02. Later I was stationed at Maxwell AFB in Montgomery and Bill was courting Martha. I was a groomsman in their wedding in 1955. Bill was a very good man and a spiritual leader in AF ranks. I can see the bible with the name Billy Joe Wallace laying the shared dresser in our shared bedroom. Bill was going to be a doctor we thought, but he showed a lot of initiative and interviewedd at AF Acaademy to be an instructor and they sent him and Martha and the family to U of Kentucky to get further training and an MS degree. We all felt that Bill would get out of the AF, but he stayed in and had a great career. We saw them several years back and had a chance to review old times over lunch in Prattville. After that visit, Bill often did not answer or acknowledge e-mails. Cindy Fincher, who worked for our eye doctor, would pass along a bit of news from time to time. Martha is Cindy's aunt and I am sure there is going to be a void in a lot of our lives. Bill was a good friend and someone that we will never forget.
