Obituary for James Eugene Greene

James Eugene Greene, age 75, a longtime resident of Colorado Springs, passed away on January 26, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital with his family by his bedside. James was born on December 28, 1942 in Ohio to James Earl and Vada (Walters) Greene.

Jim (as he was known by his family and friends) was a helicopter pilot with the US Army. He was stationed in Korea where he met and married his wife of 52 years, Chong. Jim and Chong, were married in Korea and moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado on January 27, 1966 where he was stationed at Fort Carson. Jim was a truck driver, Trucking Traffic Manager, as well as a Shipping/Receiving Supervisor before retiring to do the bookkeeping for Chong’s business. Before becoming ill, Jim enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed taking care of his cattle herd on his ranch land. He liked to watch basketball, football and Western movies.

Jim is survived by his wife, Chong Greene, his Mother, Vada Greene, two daughters, Schonda (Joseph) Yamry of Seattle, Washington and Saundra of Laramie, Wyoming, brother, Charles (Eula) Green, as well as his only granddaughter, Mackenzie Yamry.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Evergreen Funeral Home, 1830 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80910, followed by a graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will be hosting an open house following the services.
