Obituary for Clifford E Osborn

Clifford E  Osborn
Clifford E. Osborn, 76, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2011 at his home, Aspen Living Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. 
 
Mr. Osborn was the General Yard Master for Norfolk & Southern Railroad, and retired upon 40 years of superior service in 1995 in Kansas City, Kansas. During his career he worked for Burlington Northern and the Santa Fe Railroads as a fireman, clerk, train master, and engineer. He held great honors of recognition, and success throughout his entire career. He was the third generation in his family as a Railroad service member.   
 
He was born on January 28, 1935 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Wilbur and Ruby Osborn. He graduated from Wyandotte County High School in 1953. He attended Kansas University in Lawrence, Kansas in 1953-54. He lived in Roeland Park, Kansas until 1995. Upon his retirement he moved and lived in Fort Myers, Florida until 2005. He has lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado since 2005.   
 
Mr. Osborn attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Kansas City, Missouri from 1965 until 1995, and has remained a member there. He was an active member of the Aspen Living Center Church Congregation in Colorado Springs, Co from 2007-2011.
 
He married Betty Dean (Evinger) Phillips on March 2, 1959. She survives, and lives in Osawatomie, Kansas.   
 
His Daughter, Teresa Deanna (Osborn) Knox, and his Son-in-Law, George Arnold Knox, Jr. of Canon City, Colorado survive him, along with his 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and his cousins, nieces and nephews.
 
Preceeding him in death is his Daughter, Lisa Applebury (Melissa Osborn) in 2010, and her Mother Beverly (Osborn) Verbeck 2004, both of Kansas City, Missouri;  his Step-Daughter, Carolyn Kay (England) Swempe in 2001, and his Step-Son, James Roscoe Phillips in 1965;
his eldest brother, Robert Osborn of Chicago, Il in 1985 and his younger brother, Gary Osborn of Kansas City, Kansas in 2008 as well as his Maternal Grandparents, his aunt and many uncles.   
 
He loved and adored his family, and dear friends. He enjoyed traveling, especially to the beach, and was an avid baseball and football fan. He enjoyed gardening, and caring for his home. Spending time with those he loved and cherished was near and dear to him. He was a truly loving and dedicated husband and father. He will be missed, and loved for eternity.
 
Private services will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 with his family.
