Obituary for David Charles Roudebush PhD

Dr. Dave passed along from his earthly journey on October 5, 2018 after a brief and sudden illness surrounded by family and friends. He was the son of Eugene Charles and Betty Helen (Schielke) Roudebush both of whom preceded him in death.

Dave began his career in education at Immanuel Lutheran Church and School in 1979 after graduating from Concordia University, Seward, NE. He joined the faculty at Rampart High School in 1983, teaching chemistry and biology in addition to coaching soccer and basketball. After earning his Master’s Degree, Dave joined Falcon School District serving in numerous administrative rolls over his 10 years. Dave earned his Doctorate degree in 1996 and then joined the leadership team at Pueblo School District as assistant superintendent and University of Southern Colorado as associate vice president. Dave finished his career spending his last 12 years at Fountain-Fort Carson as assistant superintendent. Throughout his career he was blessed to work with some truly gifted educators who believed in the potential of their students. As a lifelong educator, Dave’s lessons and wisdom extended to his family, his friends and their children with countless people having benefitted from his knowledge.

Dave had many hobbies including hunting, fishing, gardening and cooking. He had a love of the outdoors and had the opportunity to go on many special hunting trips with his friends including two African Safaris. While in Africa, he learned that these special trips were not about the hunt but rather the story. As a great story teller, when Dave told the story he had the innate ability to leave you feeling as though you were there with him.

Dave is survived by Jill A. (Teskey) Roudebush, his beautiful and steadfast wife of 37 years. Dave is also survived by his two older sisters, Judy Wittmann and Linda Carter and husband Curtis,
and their children Erica (Wittmann) and Chris Eakin, Dyan Wittmann, Mathew Wittmann, David Carter, and Christine Carter, Father-in-law Harland Teskey, sister-in-law Robyn (Teskey) Montano, Jerome Montano and nephew Joshua Montano.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 12, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 846 E. Pikes Peak Ave., Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903. Memorial contributions may be made to the Spring's Rescue Mission or The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation in honor of Dave.
