Obituary for Florence Neyens

Funeral services for Florence Neyens, age 92, of Oakdale, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2018, at Brockhaus-Harlan Funeral Home in Tilden, Nebraska. John Petersen will officiate.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2018, at Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Florence died Monday, May 28, 2018, at Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh, Nebraska.

Florence May Neyens was born on the 4th of July 1925, at Cripple Creek, Colorado. How fitting, that having come into the world on the day that we celebrate independence, that she would leave us on the day that we honor those who fought for it, Memorial Day, May 28th, 2018. She was 92. She was the daughter of William “Bill” and Louise Munkers. She graduated from Cripple Creek High School. On October 26, 1969, Florence was united in marriage to Charles Neyens at Indian Hills, Colorado. Together they raised five children: Constance “Connie”, Robbinette “Robbie”, Sharon, George, and Edith “Dee Dee.”

Florence was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, American Legion Auxiliary, K of C Altar Society and the Oakdale Cemetery Auxiliary. She was also involved in many local events throughout the area.

Florence is survived by her husband, Charles “Chuck” Neyens; children, Connie, Sharon, George, and Dee Dee; 12 grandchildren, Jamie, Tami, JJ, Scott, Shelly, Ed, Andi, Matt, Sam, Cris, Brooke, and Leslie; 31 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; brother, William “Bill, Jr.”; sister-in-law, Vickie; and brother-in-law, Doug.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Robbie; sister, Stella; brother-in-law, William “Bill’ Neyens; as well as two brothers and one sister who preceded her as young children.
