Obituary for Jack

Katsu Jack Morimitsu, age 92, entered into eternal life on January 27th. The youngest son of 13 children, Jack was born on August 26, 1925 in Fort Lupton, Colorado and raised on a farm in Brighton. At the age of 18, he enlisted with the United States Army and was called to active duty in 1944. Jack served with the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper in Austria and returned to the United States on December 29, 1945 aboard the Queen Mary. Enabled by the GI Bill, he subsequently enrolled in Bowling Green State University and additionally earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with a specialization in Orthodontics from Case Western Reserve University. Jack married Margaret Iwata in 1955, and following a three-year internship in upstate New York, returned to Colorado to begin his orthodontics practice where he would work until 1993. After the passing of his first wife in January of 2000, he was married to Mary Asazawa in 2002 until her passing in 2009. Always seeking new hobbies, he was a bowler, skier and poker player. Jack is survived by his daughter, Jill; granddaughters, Caeli and Jenna; and sisters, Sachi Fujimoto, Judy Hiraki, Kimi Nakadoi, and Shirley Chiye Mathews.
