Obituary for Gordon Davis

LCol Gordon Leslie Davis (RCAF retired) a long-time resident of Colorado Springs, passed away peacefully at his home on January 5, 2017. He was preceded in death by his father Albert and his mother Beulah. leaving to mourn the loss of her beloved Gord is his wife Elizabeth (Betty) Davis, and his constant canine companion, Mr. Darcy. Gord is also survived by his sons Robert (Michael, Gregory, Stefani and Matthew) and Greg (Carly and Brandon); daughters Anne (Roger) Gitton (Pauline and Russell), Lynne Cook and George McLaren (Ryan and Jordon Cook) and Carole (Mark) Bajus (Ryker and Nicky); six great grandchildren. and Betty's Newfoundland family: sister Donna and husband Leigh, sons David and Christopher; brothers Howe, Bob, Wilson and cousin Gerry Russell and their families.
Gordon was born March 17, 1928 in Lethbridge, Alberta,
Canada. As a young man, he was an exceptional athlete and a chorister with his local church. Throughout his life, he was an avid skier, curler, golfer, and fisherman. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on Nov 7, 1949 and served at bases in Canada, Europe, and the United States, most notably as Commanding Officer of 42 Radar Squadron Cold Lake Alberta and RCAF Station Moise, Quebec. Gord and Betty married in Newfoundland, Canada in 1977 and were almost immediately transferred to NORAD Headquarters, Colorado Spring. In 1983,
Gord retired after 35 years of service, and he and Betty chose to remain in Colorado Springs where they became active in the local community and developed many wonderful lasting friendships. He was a founding member of the 971 Wing RCAF Association. Gord Davis was a kind and lovely man who will surely be missed by all those whose lives he touched.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2017, Evergreen Funeral Home Chapel
