Obituary for Albert Ronald Luigi

Albert Luigi passed away at the age of 82 on March 19, 2015, after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease. He will truly be missed by all who knew him, especially his family.

Al was born in Brooklyn New York on October 30, 1932, a son of second generation Italian and first generation Scottish immigrants. After graduating high school in Brooklyn, he enlisted in the Air Force. His first assignment was during the German occupation following WWII. There he met his beautiful wife, Trudy. They married in 1955 and while continuing to serve in the Air Force in Europe, they had three daughters. When their youngest child was 4 years old, they returned to the US, assigned to Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs. The family returned to Europe for a 4 year tour in England, and were lucky enough to be reassigned back to Colorado Springs. Al traveled the world and the US during his military service. He served a tour of duty in Vietnam in 1969 and finally retired from the Air Force after 26 years of service. He continued his aircraft mechanic profession for many years. He cherished his 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren during his retirement.

Besides enjoying his family, Al loved golfing, participating and watching sports of all types, traveling, and running. He ran the Pikes Peak Ascent two times, making his family very proud. He loved throwing parties and was quite the generous host.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Trudy, and his oldest daughter, Carol. He is survived by two daughters, Cyndi (Dave) and Susan (Dave), and his grandchildren, Jason, Shelby, Sam, Joey, Curran, Alexyn, and Reylin, and great-grandchildren Katrina, Madison, Christopher, Courtlyne and Riley.

Al leaves a large, unfillable hole in the Luigi family and will always be remembered well. A viewing and rosary will be held on Friday, March 27 from 4 to 5:30pm at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Saturday, March 28 at 10am.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Veterans Administration. Arrangements are in the care of Evergreen Funeral Home in Colorado Springs, Colorado
