Obituary for Tillie C Valverde

Tillie C. Valverde
June 5, 1923 – March 22, 2012
 
Tillie C. Valverde (nee Chavez), 88, a Colorado Springs native, passed away on March 22, 2012.
 
Born June 5, 1923, Tillie married Joe C. Valverde in Raton, New Mexico on July 11, 1949. They were married for 62 years.
 
Tillie was a devoted military wife, loving mother, and homemaker. While her husband was enlisted in the Air Force, she was stationed with him in California, Texas, South Carolina, Japan, and the Philippines. When her daughter was young, she was a Girl Scout leader and Sunday school teacher at Chadbourn Mission. Tillie was a quiet, brilliant, and creative woman who appreciated nature, loved reading, and spending time with her family.
 
Tillie is survived by her husband, Joe; her daughter, Amy V. Martinez; son-in-law, Ed Martinez; and granddaughter, Jillian Martinez, all of Colorado Springs. She is also survived by her sister Bertha Overpeck of Umatilla, Florida, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
 
Family and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S. Hancock Ave. Colorado Springs, Colorado.
